Fake ads for the sale of jewels stolen from the Louvre appeared on the French version of the Vinted online classifieds service, RIA Novosti correspondent confirmed.
The platform includes several listings for jewelry stolen from a French museum, such as an offer for an emerald jewel belonging to Empress Marie-Louise, for which the seller is asking 30,000 euros.
There is also a fake offer in Spanish for the sale of Empress Eugenia de Montijo's crown, which was actually already found damaged and returned to the museum.
In addition, in the background of the theft, items that are not considered missing are also put up for sale: earrings, bracelets and other body jewelry.
Sellers' product descriptions make fun of the Louvre robbery. "Stolen from the Louvre at 9:00 a.m.," "Found on my dog," "Found on the ground," "Found in my trash can," are the kinds of phrases you can find there.
