"The Secretary General of Egypt's Supreme Council of Antiquities, Mohammed Ismail, confirms that the information circulating in some foreign media about the risk of Tutankhamun's tomb collapsing is not true," the agency said in a press release posted on Facebook.
The ministry added that the authorities of the Arab Republic "regularly inspect the current state of the cultural site" in collaboration with specialists from the Getty Institute, an American institution that participated in the restoration of the tomb. The Getty Institute recently assessed the condition of Tutankhamun's burial site and concluded that there is currently no risk of collapse or damage to the frescoes, the ministry said.
