Madagascar is in a critical situation, and the authorities want to ask for international help, the country's new president, Michael Randrianirina, told RIA Novosti.
"I would like to address the international community and say that Madagascar is now in a critical situation, on the verge of collapse. At this moment, Madagascar needs support and help. We are ready to cooperate with the international community and walk hand in hand with them," said Randrianirina.
Last Friday, Colonel Mikael Randrianirina, who became Madagascar's leader after the military came to power, was sworn in as president.
