Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan participated in the lunch given in honor of the canonization of Archbishop Ignatios Maloyan.

Ignatios Maloyan was born on April 8, 1869 in Mardin (Ottoman Empire).

In 1883, the parish priest, noticing signs of a priestly vocation in the fourteen-year-old Maloyan, sent him to the Holy Mother of God monastery in Zmmar, Lebanon.

In 1896, Maloyan finished his higher education, was ordained a priest in Zmmar Monastery and joined the Patriarchal Clerical Congregation of Zmmar, receiving the name Ignatius.

In the years 1897-1910 Father Ignatius served in Alexandria and Cairo as a parish priest.

On October 22, 1911, the episcopal synod convened in Rome elected him archbishop of Mardin.

2001 On October 7, His Holiness Pope John Paul II beatified Archbishop Ignatius Maloyan in a solemn ceremony. The first part of the ceremony was performed with the Armenian rite, conducted by the Armenian Catholic Patriarch of Cilicia, Nerses-Petros XIX.

Pope Francis in 2025 On March 28, he signed a document on the canonization of Blessed Ignatius Archbishop Maloyan.
