Lithuania has established 26 air zones where the military can shoot violators

In Lithuania, communications and transport minister Juras Taminskas has established more than 20 territorial air zones, where strict restrictions are applied if necessary and where the military has the authority to shoot violators. The minister himself announced this to the journalists.

"Taking into account the tense geopolitical situation, constant air space violations and the challenges we face every day, I have established 26 air traffic restriction zones," said the head of the department.

According to him, the creation of special regime zones will enable a quick response to violations of the airspace.

"The zones are activated only when there is a need to use weapons against threats and invading drones. When there are no threats, normal control of the airspace operates," explained Taminskas.

This innovation is designed to simplify the procedures for destroying counterfeit devices. Previously, this could only be done if it was determined that they posed a real threat to the security of critical facilities.
