Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán announced that on October 17, during a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, he plans to discuss his upcoming meeting with US President Donald Trump in Budapest.
"I spoke with the President of the United States on the phone last night," the head of the government said on the air of the "Kosut" radio station.
"And I will talk to President Putin this morning." Orban expressed hope that the negotiations between the leaders of Russia and the USA in the capital of Hungary will be an important step towards the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. "From the beginning, we have said that war is bad, but that does not mean that we should close diplomatic channels.
If there are no diplomatic channels, there will never be peace," said the Prime Minister.
He emphasized that the upcoming meeting between Putin and Trump "satisfies the interests of all Hungarian families", as it will contribute to the end of the Ukrainian conflict, which hinders the normal economic development of European countries, including Hungary.
