Russia is ready to contribute to the settlement of the situation in the Middle East with interested countries, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced during the negotiations with his Moroccan counterpart Nasser Burita.
"We are closely following today's negotiations, taking into account the complex situation created in the international arena, including the controversial events unfolding in your region, the Middle East and North Africa. Russia is ready to contribute to the solution of the existing problems in these parts of the world in cooperation with other interested states," he stated.
Negotiations between Russian and Moroccan Foreign Ministers Sergey Lavrov and Nasser Burita began in Moscow on Thursday. Maria Zakharova, the spokeswoman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, announced yesterday that the ministers will discuss the current state of bilateral relations and the prospects for further progressive development.
In addition, the parties will also discuss topical issues of mutual interest on the global and regional agenda, emphasizing the situation in the Middle East, North Africa and the Sahara-Sahel region.
