Ukraine has already made proposals to Russia twice through Turkey, but immediately rejected them. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced this in an interview with Olga Skabeeva for the "60 Minutes" program of the "Rossiya-1" TV channel.
"Our Turkish partners <...> repeatedly came to us with proposals for some initiatives from the Ukrainian side," the head of state said. However, the Russian head noted that as soon as the Russian Federation agreed, the Ukrainian side already "managed to refuse" the proposals. .
Such situations have already occurred twice, Putin noted. The President of the Russian Federation emphasized that it is necessary to find out whether "Ukraine is ready or not, what is it ready for?", adding that Russia has never refused agreements with Ukraine, but "not to the detriment of its interests."
The Russian President also noted that his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan again conveyed to him the proposals regarding contacts with Ukraine at the BRICS meeting. The Turkish leader himself said that he sees the desire of his Russian counterpart to establish a ceasefire in Ukraine. This was also confirmed by Turkish and Russian Foreign Ministers Hakan Fidan and Sergey Lavrov, who held talks during a meeting in Istanbul.
