The Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies of Luxembourg emphasized the importance of the immediate return of prisoners of war in a meeting with Alen Simonyan.


On May 22, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, received the delegation led by the Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Claude Wiesler. The interlocutors documented the high-level political dialogue between Armenia and Luxembourg, emphasizing the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in the dynamic development of relations between the two countries: "We highly appreciate the resolution unanimously adopted by the Chamber of Deputies of Luxembourg on May 16 to support Armenia and establish peace and stability in the region. We emphasize that the resolution condemns the forced deportation of more than 100,000 Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh as a result of Azerbaijan's unjustified military operation and calls for the immediate release of Armenian prisoners of war," the Speaker of the National Assembly noted, adding that now the appeals of the entire international community are addressed to official Baku. to implement all the conditions for the safe and dignified return of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh to their centuries-old homeland. Claude Wiesler noted that Luxembourg is ready to continue supporting Armenia in establishing peace and security in the South Caucasus: "We encourage the involvement of both us and other EU member states. the settlement of Armenia-Azerbaijan negotiations. We emphasize and demand the immediate return of prisoners of war to their homeland," said the head of the Parliament of Luxembourg. The possibilities of development of Armenia-EU economic relations, the EU-Armenia visa liberalization process, the security situation in the South Caucasus and a wide range of issues related to Armenia-Luxembourg inter-parliamentary interaction were discussed. Reference was made to the "Crossroads of Peace" project of the RA government and its importance in establishing security in the region, as well as establishing and developing trade and economic relations.
