Armenian National Committee's response to Trump's post

The Armenian National Committee of Washington responded to the post of the US presidential candidate Trump regarding Armenians. In September, the committee also gave a critical response to Democratic candidate Harris' address to American Armenians.

The Republican candidate for the US presidency, former President Donald Trump posted on the Truth social platform about the problems affecting Armenians, where he criticized Vice President Kamala Harris, stressing that the latter "did nothing when 120,000 Armenian Christians were brutally persecuted and forcibly displaced from Artsakh."

"When I become president, I will protect persecuted Christians, work to stop violence and ethnic cleansing, and we will restore peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan," Trump wrote in a post on the Truth social platform.

The Armenian National Committee of America responded to the post of the former president, spreading a message in this regard. Let's remind that the committee also responded to the message of Kamala Harris to American Armenians on the occasion of Armenia's Independence Day in September.

"President Trump, who has significantly increased US military support to Azerbaijan, arming and encouraging the Aliyev regime in 2020. attacking Artsakh should do more than just spread pre-election announcements. He has to submit actual results before election day. He can start by publicly affirming Artsakh [Armenians'] right of return and personally calling on House Speaker Johnson to set a timetable for a vote on H.R. 7288, which would implement US aid restrictions to Azerbaijan under Resolution 907. is Aram Hambaryan, executive director of the Armenian National Committee of Washington, adding. "In turn, Vice Presidential candidate JD Vance, a sitting member of the US Senate, should support and work for the passage of Senate Resolution S.Res.540, which would investigate Azerbaijan's use of US military aid to commit war crimes against Armenians."

Aram Hambaryan expressed his satisfaction that the consistent involvement of the American Armenian community made Artsakh and Armenia appear on the agenda of American national election discussions.

“We expect more than just words. In order to get our votes, we demand to see results - actions that will practically punish Aliyev and prevent Azerbaijan's new aggression," Hambaryan added.

The Hay Dat committee said in a statement that "there are less than two weeks left until the 2024 US presidential election, and both Republican and Democratic candidates have issued statements about Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) in an attempt to win the support of American Armenians in the US, particularly in key swing states including Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin."

"This is an important milestone for our community, an important step in our emergence as an electoral force on the American national stage. Please stay engaged, keep up the pressure. Our investments in the American political system are yielding results," said Aram Hambaryan.
