Expert: The United States will not go to direct war with Iran, but will hide behind Israel

The United States does not seek a direct military conflict with Iran and will continue to use Israel in the confrontation with the Islamic Republic; the outcome of the American presidential election will not affect this. This opinion was expressed in a conversation with TASS by a member of the board of directors of the Tehran-based Institute of Iranian-Eurasian Studies (IRAS), Professor Mahmoud Shourie.
“I don’t think that the United States is seeking to enter into a direct military clash with Iran. They will hide behind Israel, providing it with military support. The issue of US participation in the regional conflict will depend on how Iran responds to the alleged Israeli attack,” the agency’s interlocutor said .
According to him, "Israel's recent threats to attack Iranian military bases may be part of psychological warfare and will not come true in reality." “It is extremely difficult to predict what will happen after Israeli attacks on Iranian military centers. The region could be on the brink of a full-scale war. Iranian officials have repeatedly emphasized that Tehran will give an appropriate response to such attacks,” the analyst added. He stressed that Tehran is not interested in increasing tensions in the Middle East. “It is not so important to Iran who becomes the American president - Donald Trump or Kamala Harris. Whoever sits in the US presidency will always support Israel, first of all militarily, and also believe that Israel needs to be protected from Iran. But for Israel and its Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the outcome of the American elections on November 5 is very important,” the expert concluded.
