The commander of the 401st tank brigade of the Israeli army, colonel Ehsan Aksa, was killed during the fighting in the north of the Gaza Strip, the Times of Israel reports.
According to the preliminary investigation of the Israel Defense Forces, the Aqsa tank and another tank were blown up during the operation in Jabalia.
Aksa is one of the highest-ranking officers killed in the fighting in the Gaza Strip. Another officer was seriously injured in the same incident.
41-year-old Aqsa was born in the Druze city of Daliat al-Carmel. In June, he assumed the command of the 401st brigade.
