Venezuela confirms its focus on integration with the BRICS association and is ready to share its experience in countering sanctions and its resources, Foreign Minister Ivan Gil said after the forum “BRICS: A Multipolar World under Construction” in Caracas.
“Venezuela reaffirms its intention to pave the way for integration into BRICS, where we will bring our knowledge in the fight against unilateral coercive measures, as well as our rich natural resources to the service of the people,” Gil wrote in his Telegram channel.
At the forum in Caracas, which was held on the initiative of the Bolivarian government, the ambassadors of Russia, Brazil, Sergey Melik-Bagdasarov and Gilvania Maria de Oliveira, spoke and shared their views on the current international situation.
“In this context, two models stand in opposition to each other: one that advocates equality, led by BRICS, and another that perpetuates neo-colonialism that benefits only the imperialist elites,” Gil stressed. BRICS is an interstate association created in 2006.
Russia assumed the chairmanship of BRICS on January 1, 2024. The year began with the addition of new members to the association - in addition to the Russian Federation, Brazil, India, China and South Africa, it now includes Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
Russia's BRICS Chairmanship is held under the motto of strengthening multilateralism for equitable global development and security. As part of its chairmanship, the Russian Federation organizes more than 200 political, economic and social events. The BRICS summit will be held in Kazan from October 22 to 24.
