In Georgia, in two days, the fourth opposition figure has been sentenced to prison

The Tbilisi City Court sentenced Georgian opposition figure Giorgi Vashadze to seven months in prison. He was forbidden for two years to hold a state position. The reason for the accusation was not to appear on his parliamentary investigative commission. This was reported by the Georgian service of "Azatutyun" radio station, "Echo Kavkaza".

The previous day, three Georgian opposition figures received similar verdicts for similar "violations".

Giorgi Vashadze, who was the main responsibility for the reforms in the government of former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, was arrested on the day before.

The newspaper clarifies that he was not present at the publication of the verdict. In recent months, Vashadze has repeatedly stated that he does not recognize the legitimacy of the current Georgian authorities.
