At the meeting of the NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sports Affairs, the draft law on amendments to the law "On Military Service and the Status of Servicemen" was discussed in the second reading.
According to the Ministry of Education and Culture, the main goal of the proposed change is to simplify the administration, which will make it easier for many citizens to ensure the continuity of education and the process of using the right to postponement already established by law.
According to Zhanna Andreasyan, during the first to second reading, certain proposals were received, including editorial ones, which were accepted, but no other changes were made in terms of content.
All those citizens who already had the right to a deferment will continue to have it, just citizens studying in the Republic of Armenia or foreign countries on the basis of general education, as well as basic education without interruption in primary (vocational) or secondary professional educational programs, the deferment from compulsory military service will be granted once, for the whole Zhanna Andreasyan expressed confidence that this change will contribute to the reduction of administration.
According to him, the group of beneficiaries does not change, the number of steps taken is simply reduced, so that citizens do not have to apply for deferment every year, carrying out the same process. The question received a positive conclusion of the commission.
