Latvia again auctions "Moscow House" confiscated from Russia

The Latvian authorities' "Moscow House" building was once again auctioned off in Riga. This was reported by Delfi portal.

The next auction will start on June 13 and will last until July 14. A plot of 966 square meters on Marikhas Street has been put up for sale, together with the building. The starting price remains the same as 2.14 million euros. This is the fourth attempt to sell the property at this price.

In general, six unsuccessful attempts to sell the Moscow House. Originally, it was estimated at 3.57 million euros, but the interest of buyers was low.

"Moscow House" cultural center opened in Riga in 2004. The idea belonged to Moscow's then Mayor Yuri Luzhkov.
In January 2024, the Latvian Seimi decided to transfer the building to the state and sent the money received from the sale to Ukraine. However, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that in the absence of Moscow's agreement, the sale may have legal consequences for the participants of Latvia and the competition.
Later, Russia filed a lawsuit in the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) in response to the decisions of the Latvian Constitutional Court, which rejected complaints about the illegality of the Illegal House of Moscow.
