The 18th package of sanctions against Russia can be adopted next week.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said this at a joint press conference with Danish Prime Minister Mete Fredericksen in Berlin.
"We will accelerate the work on the next package of sanctions in the European Union. I can say that I thank the European Commission yesterday presented the proposals of the 18th package of sanctions. And if everything goes according to the plan, it will be accepted next week, "he said.

The German Chancellor also said that "Russia poses a threat to security on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean."
Earlier, European Commission President Ursula von der Heeni said that the new package of sanctions against Russia includes a ban on the use of the "North Stream" gas pipeline, the ban on buying Russian oil to EU countries and reducing its price ceiling.
Currently, these initiatives of the European Union must first establish the embassies, then the leaders of the EU Ministries of Foreign Affairs. The European Commission hopes to achieve this in the end of June to the EU and NATO summits.
