Russia officially recognizes Nagorno-Karabakh as an Azerbaijani territory. Zakharova on Medinsky's statement

Russia calls on the context not to cut off Russian President's Assistant Vladimir Medinsky's words about Karabakh. Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, stated this at TASS.

"Non-existent theses should be removed from context and changing the words in places, giving them a completely different meaning," said the diplomat.

Zakharova stressed that Russia officially recognizes Artsakh as an Azerbaijani territory. The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry explained that Madinsky spoke about the "historical aspect of socio-cultural peculiarities and pain."

Earlier, Russian Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Medinsky brought the example of Nagorno Karabakh in the context of the Ukrainian settlement. In an interview with RT, he noted that if the conflict along the whole front end, a ceasefire will be signed, this region will be turned into a huge Karabakh.

In response to this, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan stated.

"We recommend that Mr. Medinsky refrain from harm to interstate relations, making such incorrect statements about issues outside his authority."
