The RA government refrained from defining September 27 as a memorial day. The decision was made during today's session of the RA government. The amendments to the RA law "On the Republic of Armenia's Holidays and Memorial Days" were proposed by Gegham Nazaryan, deputy of the "Armenia" faction of the National Assembly. In the justification of the RA government's proposal to abstain, it is stated that "Army Day, celebrated on January 28, is not only a celebration of the formation of the armed forces of the Republic of Armenia, but also includes those who contributed to the defense of Armenia at all times, including those who lost their lives commemoration". The official summary specifically states: According to the draft law of the Republic of Armenia, it is proposed to add Article 13.3 with the following content:
The Government of the Republic of Armenia proposes to refrain from making an amendment to the Law of the Republic of Armenia "On Holidays and Memorial Days of the Republic of Armenia", because the Army Day celebrated on January 28 is not only a celebration of the formation of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia, but also includes ensuring the protection of Armenia at all times. Commemoration of the memory of those who contributed to the cause, including those who lost their lives."
