The US military has said that the US leadership has not changed its orders to participate in the NATO military component. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ).
According to this information, some European officials believe that the allegiance of the United States to NATO is weakening. They take into account the criticism of US President Donald Trump and his statements about the desire to reduce military involvement abroad. However, American officers claim that the position has not changed in any way, the newspaper writes.
"From the point of view of the US Army, my orders have not changed," the publication quotes the words of Andrew Sasslav, Deputy Head of the US Army Headquarters in Europe.
He noted that the issue of US future participation in NATO is on his mind, but he stressed that he has served too long to "hang out of political winds and messages that are not orders."
