The first summit of the leaders of Central Asian and Italian Prime Minister George Meloni will take place on May 30 in Astana, on the same day the leader of the Italian government will pay an official visit to Kazakhstan. This was stated by the press service of the President of the Republic Kasim-Zhomart Tokayev. At first, Meloni planned to visit Uzbekistan, then to Kazakhstan on April 25-27 to take part in the summit with the leaders of Central Asia.
However, due to the death of Pope Francis on April 21, the visits were postponed for several years in the format where the leaders of Central Asia, Krbzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan met with the head of another state. Similar events are held at a high level with the participation of the heads of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs or other departments.
This summer plans to host Central Asia-China summit, and Dushanbe will host Central Asia-Russia summit in the fall.
