Tokayev has fired Almaty leader

Kazakh President Kasim-Zhomart Tokayev has signed a decree to release Almaty's Akim (head). This was stated by the press service of the head of state.

The reasons for the resignation were not released. Recently, Dosa had attended the working visit to Prime Minister Olyzas Bectenov Alma-Ata.

On May 23, a statement came from the website of Almaty Maslikhat (Local Representative Body) that a session of the deputies will take place on Saturday to agree on the appointment of Akim. But on Friday, there was no statement about Dosaev's resignation.

Almaty is the largest city in Kazakhstan with more than 2 million people. Dosa has been ranked by the position of Akim since January 2022. Prior to that, he was the chairman of the National Bank of Kazakhstan, Deputy Prime Minister, and he worked as the highest head of the bank.
