The new US missile defense system, Golden DOME, increases the risk of militarization and arms race, said Mao Ning, a spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, on Wednesday.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump announced that the US authorities have chosen the architecture of their "Golden Dome" anti-missile defense system, which will cost the country about $ 175 billion. Trump noted that the system will include land, sea and space systems and it is expected to operate until its second term.
Mao Ning noted that the Golden DOME project is aimed at creating a global, multi-level, unlimited anti-missile defense system. According to him, the program "openly provides a significant expansion of space combat, including the development and deployment of orbital hunting systems, which is clearly insulting its nature."
"This violates the principle of peaceful use of the universe, which is enshrined in a cosmic agreement. This will increase the risk of militarization and arms race and divorced international security and the weapons control system, "Mao Ning said.
