The US Department of Finance has started the process of being canceled against Syria

The United States has begun to remove sanctions on Syria, the Minister of Finance Scott Bassent stated this at its X microblog.

"The US Department of Finance takes steps to mitigate sanctions, to stabilize Syria and achieve peace," he said.

On May 13, US President Donald Trump announced his decision to cancel the sanctions on Syria, noting that it is necessary to "give the country an opportunity."

Speaking at a forum in Saudi Arabia, the US President noted that the previous sanctions, although "were harsh and paralyzing", made their important role.

The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called Trump's decision a turning point for the Syrian people.
