The mayor of Batumi Archil Chikovan resigned

Archil Chikovani, Mayor of Batumi resort town, stated that he had left the post.

"I have decided to leave the position of Batumi mayor. It was a great honor and important responsibility to be the city's leader. I would like to thank Batumis for trust and support, thank you to the team with whom I have worked for our city for several years, "Chikovan wrote on Facebook.

According to the politician, he is especially grateful to the ruling Georgian Dream-Democratic Georgia party.

"Of course, I remain a faithful member of this team," Chikovan concluded.

Chikovani has been headed by Batumi since 2020. In 2020, after the resignation of Mayor Lasha Komakhidze, he was appointed acting city leader, and in 2021 he was officially elected mayor of Batumi.

On April 4, the Prime Minister of the Administrative Republic of Adjara, grandson Rizvadze, resigned. Sulkhan Tamazashvili, the former director of the Georgian Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, took his place.
