Pope Levon XIV calls for peace in Ukraine and the Middle East

Pope Levon XIV called on his first Sunday preaching in Ukraine, the Middle East, as well as the conflicts between India and Pakistan. TASS reports.

In his speech in St. Peter Square, the Pope reminded of the tragedy of World War II, which killed 60 million people, and he called for peace to today's politicians.

"I urge you to do everything you need to achieve fair and long-lasting peace in Ukraine as soon as possible, release of all prisoners and return their families," he said.

The Pope also called for humanitarian assistance to the residents of the Gaza Strip and release all hostages. He added that he was glad to hear about the ceasefire between India and Pakistan and expressed hope that an agreement between the two countries will be signed in the near future.
