The EU Foreign Minister Kaya Callas spoke about the first time since December 1 last year, he spoke about Iran's nuclear program with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. He wrote about this in X.
"I spoke with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to emphasize the importance of diplomacy in nuclear issues and to weaken tensions in the region," he said.
Kallas called on Iran to suspend Russia's supposed military support and expressed concern over the detention of EU citizens in Iran. He stressed that the relations between Brussels and Tehran "depend on the progress on all these issues."
EU Foreign Ministers Javier Solana (1999-2009) and Federica Mogini (2014-2019) were the main negotiation partners with Iran in the West, especially the discussions on Iran's nuclear program.
