The UN reported that about 68% of Gaza's farmland was damaged due to fighting.

At least 68% of the 15 thousand hectares of agricultural land in the Gaza Strip suffered various types of damage as a result of the fighting. This was reported by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
The humanitarian organization notes that assessments conducted by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the Satellite Center (UNOSAT) indicate that the most damaged land (about 2.6 thousand hectares) was recorded in Khan Yunis, and the highest ratio (78 .2%) was detected in the north of the Palestinian enclave.
According to UN OCHA, almost 95% or 15 thousand head of cattle in the Gaza Strip died. In addition, only 43% of the pre-war sheep population (less than 25 thousand) and 37% of goats (about 3 thousand) have survived. The poultry sector suffered the most serious losses: only 1% of poultry (about 34 thousand) survived. The situation in the Middle East sharply worsened after the infiltration of militants of the Palestinian radical Hamas movement from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory on October 7 last year, which was accompanied by the killings of residents of border settlements and hostage taking. In response, Israel launched a military operation in Gaza with the aim of destroying the military and political structure of Hamas and releasing all those abducted.
