In France, a school was named after Misak Manushyan

By the unanimous decision of the council of the Ile-de-France region, the central high school of the city of Chatnet-Malabri near Paris was named after Misak and Meline Manushyan. This was reported by the RA Embassy in France.


"This is the first school in France that bears the name of the Armenian hero of the Resistance Movement. The naming ceremony started with the exciting reading of Misak Manushyan's poems by the students of the school.


The principal of the school, as well as the teachers of history and philosophy, spoke with words of welcome, presenting the goals of the initiative, the need and importance of perpetuating the heroic figures of Manushyan and his comrades-in-arms, who were enshrined in the Pantheon of the greatest French figures by the decision of the French president, for the young generation.


The opening ceremony of the school was also attended by the member of the council of the Ile-de-France region and the mayor of Châtnet-Malabri, Carl Sego, the president of the Aude-de-Seine department, Georges Sifredi, the prefect of the department, Benoit Trevisan, the RA ambassador to France, Hasmik Tolmajyan, as well as Academic Director of the Public Education Service of Aux-de-Seine.


The vice president of the French Senate, Pierre Ouzoulias, members of the National Assembly and the Senate, representatives of regional, departmental and city authorities, as well as representatives of the French-Armenian community were also present at the opening ceremony of the school. In his speech, Ambassador Hasmik Tolmajyan thanked Mayor Carl Sego for the initiative to name the school after Manushyan.


The ambassador emphasized that due to his exceptional struggle and unforgettable feat for the liberation of France, as well as his boundless devotion to universal values, Misak Manushyan has become the most important symbol of Armenian-French friendship, who continues to inspire the young French generation with his heroic and tireless struggle. At the end of the solemn ceremony, the students of the school also performed original performances of Charles Aznavour's songs. In the years 1931-1933, Misak Manushyan lived in Shatne-Malabry, at 44 Jean Jores avenue," the message says.
