Istanbul authorities have strengthened security measures in the areas around Central Taksim Square to prevent unauthorized demonstrations in May.
Nearly 300 people have been arrested for the attempt to organize spontaneous protests unauthorized by the authorities, according to the association of modern lawyers.
At least 13 people, mostly young people, were detained by the police in the Sisli district. Arrests were also made in the Besiktash region. According to human rights activists, there were five detainees who represented this association, but this information was not approved by the authorities.
The Istanbul authorities have allowed the trade unions to hold the May-Ageless demonstrations in the two districts of the Asian side of Istanbul, in Cadke and Kartal. About 40,000 people are involved in security on the day of the work and solidarity in Turkey on May 1.
