On April 30, the RA Government session touched upon the general declaration process, including the issuance of identification cards and procedural issues within the framework of the process.
According to the Interior Ministry, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, referring to the digitalization process in Armenia, stressed that the cornerstone of digitalization is to have an ID card.
Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan said that as of April 30, 96,900 applications have been received related to the provision of an identification card, and 81,900 identification card has already been published.
"These are just entry applications. There are also citizens waiting for the queue system that have not yet submitted applications for the implementation of the printing process. According to him, in Yerevan and the regions, another 54,261 people expect to be able to approach the relevant passport unit and submit an application to receive an identification card. If we look at the total sum, it turns out that about 151 thousand people have already received an identification card or expect to be able to print cards, "he said.
Interior Minister Arpine Sargsyan also noted that about 1,000 identification card services can be carried out a day, but in the near future the number will double. "We have achieved a laser system for two new types of printing devices, which will allow identification cards to implement faster printing, accordingly, to increase bandwidth."
The Minister also presented statistics, according to which about 64,000 ID cards were provided in 2024, and in 2024, and in 2025, the demand for 4 months approached last year.
