The President of Georgia signed the law on the ban on the adoption of foreign grants

The legislative changes on the ban on foreign grants submitted by the Georgian Dream, without the approval of the government, signed the 6th President of Georgia Mikheil Iskinashvili.

According to Aliq.ge, the law has already been published and entered into force.

In two days, the Georgian Dream parliament discussed and approved the law against civil society and the media by an accelerated procedure.

The changes now oblige the awarder (donor) to apply to the Georgian government or the authorized person who has appointed the Georgian government and submit a draft grant agreement.

In order to obtain a corresponding agreement, the grant must submit a draft grant agreement to the Georgian government or the authorized person / body appointed by the Georgian government.

The anti-corruption bureau, led by Rajeed Kuprashvili, is scheduled to be a responsible body for the issuance of prohibited grants.

The draft law envisages sanctions on obtaining banned grants.
