The EU Commissioner will visit Baku to reaffirm the "strategic partnership" with Azerbaijan


EU Commissioner for Energy and Housing Dan Jorgensen will arrive in Baku tomorrow, to reaffirm the strategic energy partnership between the EU and Azerbaijan. This is stated in the statement of the European Commission.


"He will take part in the 11th ministerial meeting of the South Gas Corridor Council and the 3rd ministerial meeting of the Green Energy Advisory Council. Commissioner Yorgensen will perform at the first session of the South Gas Corridor and will take part in the ministerial session together with the representatives of partner governments, institutions and companies. The meeting will be an important opportunity to discuss the ability of the Southern Gas Corridor. The gas pipeline and its neighboring countries are a key way to diversify gas supplies, as we strive to fully refuse the supplies supplied from Russia. Cooperation in the field of renewable energy and methane emissions will also be an important topic during the visit of the Commissioner Jorgensen to Azerbaijan. The Green Energy Advisory Council will discuss efforts to develop energy efficiency and renewable energy in the region. The Commissioner will also take part in a meeting with the Ministers of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania, Hungary and Bulgaria to assess the implementation of the Green Energy Corridor Agreement. He will also chair the EU-Azerbaijan business round table with Azerbaijani Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbasov on the development of offshore wind energy in the Caspian Sea.
