The European Parliament held a meeting dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide on April 3, while paying serious attention to the forced deportation of ethnic Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh. This was reported by the Armenian Federation of Europe of Justice and Democracy.

The European deputies held a comparison between the Armenian Genocide and the events of recent years, noting that the recent events are the dangerous consequences of Turkey and Azerbaijan, not to provide historical responsibility.

"Recognition and reconciliation require courage to resist the past and build the future on the historical truth. This is especially important today, when hundreds of thousands of people have been forced to leave Nagorno Karabakh as a result of the atrocities of Azerbaijan, "said Miriam Lexman from the EPP faction.

From the "Socialist and Democrats Progressive Alliance" faction, Janice Manatis told the tragic experience of his family in the Ottoman Empire.

"The lack of memory and recognition leads to a repetition of the past. The events in Nagorno Karabakh are the painful reminder of today, "he said. During the meeting, the deputies reaffirmed that the ethnic cleansing in Nagorno Karabakh are inadmissible, and called on the EU to adopt a fundamental foreign policy, which will be achieved in political and economic interests.
