Maduro applied to the United Nations to release migrants from Salvador prison

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has asked the UN leadership to support Venezuelan's immediate release in El Salvador. This is stated in the Government statement, which was published by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic Ivan Gill Pinto.

The head of state had a telephone conversation with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterresh and UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Folker Turk.

"The purpose of the Venezuelan President's request is to ensure the immediate and unconditional release of 238 compatriots in Salvador's concentration camps without any trial and deprivation of the right to protect himself," the statement said.

In a telephone conversation, Maduro said that the actions against Venezuelan Migrants "remind the persecution of Adolf Hitler's Nazi during World War II during World War II."
