Politico. The EU may hold gas from Turkey and Greece to Ukraine

The European Commission (EC) is studying the use of ground gas storage (UGS) to buy gas from Turkey and Greece in Ukraine. This was reported by Politico, citing sources.

Such a scheme will provide an opportunity to "moderate" the anger of the Slovak authorities, which are dissatisfied with the termination of Russian gas transit through Ukraine.

Slovakia thanks to this transit, which officially stopped December 31 2024, from transit fees to 500 million euros a year. The Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fisco demanded to extend the agreement with Russia, threatening to stop exporting electricity to Ukraine and to stop helping Ukrainian refugees.
