The Georgian parliament approved the package of legislative changes aimed at tightening drugs in the first reading at the plenary session. The meeting was broadcast on the legislature on the website.

According to the initiative, changes will be amended in the Georgian Criminal Code, in the Law on Organized Crime and Requesting on Organized Crime and Requesting. The concept of mandatory treatment for drug addiction will appear in the Georgian Criminal Code.
At its discretion, the judge will be able to choose forced treatment to a specific personality. The changes also provide for drug trafficking for up to 20 years or more, at least in terms of minimity.
