Президент России Владимир Путин расширил безвизовый режим для всех граждан Грузии. В обновленном указе, опубликованном на портале правовых актов, больше нет исключений, при которых ранее требовалась виза.Указ, отменяющий для граждан Грузии введенный в 2000 году визовый режим, был опубликован в мае 2023 года. Однако тогда виза все еще была необходима для тех, кто планировал работать в России или находиться на территории страны более 90 дней, включая обучение. Теперь новый документ позволяет всем гражданам Грузии въезжать в Россию без виз, независимо от целей визита.Грузия отменила визы для россиян в 2012 году. Дипломатические отношения между странами были разорваны Тбилиси в 2008 году после признания Россией независимости Абхазии и Южной Осетии.
