Hezbollah called a change of government in Syria strategic loss

The arrival of new political forces in Syria was a great loss for the Lebanese Shiite "Hezbollah", as it damaged the system of regional alliances against Israel. An Ali Fayad, a member of the Lebanese Parliament, told such an opinion, and one of the founders of Hezbollah.

"There is no doubt that political transformation in Syria is a serious strategic loss, we cannot deny it," the MP said in an interview with Responsible Statecraft.

"Our former relations with Bashar al-Assad's regime were related to one specific issue with the need to establish a balance with Israel in a difficult regional struggle," said Shia Politician.

According to him, "the position of the new Syrian leadership is confusing to Israel, as Israel has entered the Syrian territory and occupied it without any reactions from the new authorities, this is not a legal and political point of view."

At the end of November 2024, armed opposition groups launched a large-scale attack on the positions of the Syrian army. On December 8, they entered Damascus, Assad resigned and left the country.
