US President Donald Trump's administration has canceled an annual meeting of the FDA vaccine committee, which directly affects the next season of the flu, Bloomberg writes.
Each year, FDA consultants meet, to decide which flu strains should be included in future vaccinations. It is noted that the period of the meeting is critical due to the time required for the production of vaccines.
After being selected, about six months are required to produce a large amount of vaccine. Any significant delay in this process may mean that the vaccine will not be ready for the next season of the flu.
"Trump administration has canceled the upcoming session of the US Customs and Drug Department's Advisory Committee, which can complicate the preparation of vaccination against the flu for the next season," the agency wrote.
