Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced last week that he had ordered to prepare a new constitution, which must be approved by the Armenian citizens through a referendum.
I hope that most of the voters in Armenia will reject the new constitution, thus forcing him to resign. This is a golden opportunity to get rid of him. All the previous efforts to remove him from the last seven years have failed because:
1) The split between the opposition groups has prevented them from creating a large large conception, which can remove Pashinyan from office. Although his popularity has decreased significantly in recent years, from 80 percent to 80 percent of the current 10 percent, the political rating of its ruling party is higher than each opposition group.
Many excuses have been taken to not join, but no one is more important than the need to save the country. Unfortunately, the split opposition is keeping Pashinyan's government.
2) No group should try to rule over a successful unification against Pashinyan. The leadership of the bloc must be changed in turn until the holding of new elections.
3) The shadow government shall consist of all opposition groups based on professional experience.
4) The groups must temporarily set aside all their internal disagreements and unite to save the nation. If Armenia does not exist, none of the ideologies of these groups will be important. After saving the country, they can return to their own goals.
Knowing Pashinyan's selfish practice, he will tour throughout Armenia to ensure that citizens will vote for the new Constitution. He will not leave the stone on a stone to achieve his goal, suppressing and threatening them. He has at his disposal to leverage to carry out such a huge campaign and to collect large sums of money fraud or pre-election, as his party took his party during the last elections to the Yerevan Council of Elders.
This is a supreme goal for Pashinyan, as President Aliyev has made it clear that without Armenia's new constitution, it will refuse to sign the "Peace Agreement", about which Pashinyan begs. Pashinyan needs the piece of paper that will mislead the voters in the 2026 elections so that they may think that he does not take "peace." Although it does not last long.
At first, Pashinyan rejected Aliyev's demand on the change of the Constitution as interference in Armenia's internal affairs. Also, Pashinyan said that there is no such need, as the draft peace agreement contains a provision that the two countries agree to recognize the territorial integrity of each other.
In the case of a dispute, the conditions of the peace agreement are prioritized to their respective constitutions. Pashinyan added that the Constitution of Azerbaijan contains indirect links to demand areas from the Republic of Armenia. However, Pashinyan said that he would not ask Azerbaijan to reconsider his constitution.
In addition to changing the Constitution of Armenia, Pashinyan received the following requirements of Ali.
- Armenia will hand over some villages in Armenia to Azerbaijan.
- Will the Azeris authorize those who have lived in the enclaves within Armenia before, and live there?
- Dissolve the OSCE Minsk Group.
- Removal of EU observers from Armenia.
- Termination of its international lawsuits against Azerbaijan by Armenia.
- The road from the eastern part of Azerbaijan to Nakhichevan should be a corridor under Azerbaijan's sovereignty than a purely way.
While supporting the corridor, Pashinyan agreed to facilitate the entry.
- Although the 2020 agreement allows that both Armenia and Azerbaijan pass through each other, Pashinyan has repeatedly stated that Azerbaijanis can freely cross Armenia without announcing that the agreement must be implemented mutually.
Armenian Minister of Justice Srbuhi Galyan said last week that the new constitution would be ready until the June 2026 parliamentary elections. It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post. It is absolutely unacceptable.
It is very important that Armenian voters reject the new constitution. "No" is a vote of distrust towards the Prime Minister. He can no longer continue his position after the people reject his key initiative.
He will not have an alternative than to resign.
