Iraqi radicals claim their drone attacked northern Israel

Radical Iraqi groups claim that their drone attacked a certain facility located in northern Israel. This is stated in a statement by the formations that are part of the Islamic Resistance of Iraq association. According to the text published on the Telegram channel of the radicals, “the UAV attacked a target located in the northern regions” of Israel. More precise information about where exactly the object was located is not provided. The attack, the group said, was carried out "in support of the peoples of Palestine and Lebanon and in response to [Israel's] aggression against civilians."

Shiite formations in Iraq have intensified amid the deterioration of the situation in the Middle East after the infiltration of militants of the Palestinian Hamas movement from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory on October 7, 2023, which was accompanied by the killing of residents of border settlements and the taking of hostages.

Radicals called this attack a response to the actions of the Israeli authorities against the Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Israel announced a complete blockade of Gaza and began striking the enclave and certain areas of Lebanon and Syria, after which it launched a ground operation in the sector.
