The Bundestag approved the allocation of €400 million to support Kyiv

The German Ministry of Defense plans further support for Ukraine; the Bundestag (German parliament) approved the allocation of an additional €400 million to provide military assistance to Kyiv. This was stated by the head of the working group for coordinating assistance to Kyiv at the German Ministry of Defense, Major General Christian Freuding, in an interview with the RND editorial association.

“We have just received approval from the Bundestag for an additional €400 million for 2024 alone. This will allow us to implement a total of 50 projects this year with a total value of €1.4 billion,” Freuding said. At the same time, he recalled that the US authorities promised to provide an additional €8 billion to help Ukraine. “For me, this is not a sign of fatigue, but rather a sign of determination,” the major general said, answering the question of whether Western countries are tired of the conflict. He assured that Germany will continue to support Kyiv.

“Just in the last week we have delivered two IRIS-T SLM and SLS anti-aircraft systems. And this year we will deliver two more anti-aircraft systems, a double-digit number of infantry fighting vehicles and main battle tanks and a five-six-digit number of artillery ammunition,” Freuding emphasized. According to the general, Ukraine's supply of artillery ammunition has improved. “Russia’s superiority in artillery is no longer as great as in the spring, it has decreased from 8:1 to about 3:1,” he argued.
