Sports and cultural events were held in the "Goris", "Vanadzor", "Vardashen" and "Convicts' Hospital" penitentiaries


In order to form positive behavior among prisoners and increase the effectiveness of communication, the Department of Social, Psychological and Legal Work of the “Goris” Penitentiary Institution of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia organized a checkers tournament, in which 32 convicts participated.

As a result of the persistent struggle and spectacular games between the prisoners on the game boards, the first to third places were taken by convicts Gurgen Avagyan, Ashot Karamyan and Rustam Petunts, respectively. “On February 12, the 90th anniversary of the great Armenian prose writer Hrant Matevosyan was celebrated.

In line with the message of the day, the Department of Social, Psychological and Legal Work of the “Vardashen” Penitentiary Institution of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia organized a film screening. prisoners watched the feature film “Autumn Sun” directed by Bagrat Hovhannisyan, based on the novel of the same name by Hrant Matevosyan.

On February 13, the Department of Social, Psychological and Legal Affairs of the “Hospital for Convicts” Penitentiary Institution of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia organized an intra-institutional chess tournament, in which 7 convicts participated.

As a result of a fair and honest struggle, Sasun Tomoyan came in third place, Artur Badalyan came in second, and Artur Harutyunyan took the honorable first place. On the same day, prisoners of the “Vanadzor” Penitentiary Institution also measured their strength in front of the chess board. The struggle ended with the victory of convict Aren Chatinyan.

The second and third places were taken by convicts Shahen Kocharyan and Artur Ghavalyan, respectively, the Penitentiary Service said in a statement.
