Macron announces international conference in support of Lebanon

France will hold an international conference in support of Lebanon in October, French President Emmanuel Macron said.

“I thank the partners of the International Organization of Francophonie for their approval of France’s organization of an international conference in support of Lebanon, which will take place in October,” Macron said, speaking at the final press conference of the 19th Francophonie summit, which took place in France. The President's speech was broadcast on the YouTube channel of the Elysee Palace.

Macron also said that Francophonie members unanimously supported an immediate and sustainable ceasefire in Lebanon, and also expressed their commitment to de-escalating tensions in the region.
