The Moldovan government is taking populist measures to combat inflation, which only worsen the economic situation of the citizens, said Opposition Socialist Party MP Alla Darozannaya.
"Populist measures of government only deepen the situation of Moldovan citizens, inflation continues to have a devastating effect on the well-being of the citizens," Darozanaya said.
Citing the data of the National Statistical Bureau, he said that in December 2024, consumer prices increased by 7% compared to the same period of 2023.
However, inflation accumulated since August 2021 amounted to 59.11%, which led to the decrease in the purchasing power of citizens, especially retirees, public sector employees and population.
