The police of Hamburg partially closed the main station of the city due to the suspicion that a man who had previously contracted Marburg fever in Rwanda had arrived on one of the trains, reports the publication Hamburger Morgenpost with reference to law enforcement officers. "presumably he is infected with the Marburg virus," the newspaper writes. Shortly before arriving in Hamburg, the man called his acquaintance and admitted that he had a high temperature, and in Rwanda he contacted a person who was sick with fever. A special ambulance, equipped to transport patients with dangerous infections, arrived at the station building. Marburg virus is transmitted to humans from fruit bats and spreads among people through direct contact with infected biological fluids, as well as surfaces and materials. As noted by WHO, there are no registered vaccines or antiviral drugs for the treatment of fever. Supportive therapy (oral or intravenous rehydration) and symptomatic treatment are used to improve patient survival rates.
