Nearly half million residents evacuated due to typhoon Yagi in southern China


About 420,000 local residents of Hainan Province were forced to evacuate due to typhoon Yagi approaching southern China, reports China Daily."Friday, as of 9:00 local time, 418,257 people left their homes," the publication writes.Yagi has already brought heavy rains and stormy winds to the region.The typhoon is expected to reach Hainan and Guangdong Provinces in the afternoon.Due to the impending disaster, Chinese authorities have canceled flights in these provinces, as well as in Hong Kong and Macau.In addition, the bridge connecting Hong Kong with Macau and Zhuhai city was closed.Weather forecasts state that typhoon Yagi's wind gusts reach 245 km/h. According to the Saffir-Simpson scale, such storms are classified as category four storms (209-251 km/h).According to forecasts, typhoon Yagi may be the strongest in this region in the last ten years.In addition, experts predict that Yagi will reach Vietnam and Laos this weekend.Vietnamese authorities already have announced that four airports in the north of the country, including Noi Bai International Airport, will be closed.
