The current administration of Armenia is actually an accomplice to the lawlessness that started today. The GM of the RPA made such a statement, referring to the trial of the military-political leadership of Artsakh that started in Baku.
"Today, January 17, the trial of Armenian prisoners who have been held illegally in Baku prisons for more than a year on false charges has started.
As a result of the military aggression against the Republic of Artsakh founded on the inalienable right of self-determination, the regime of Azerbaijan, after forcibly evicting the people of Artsakh from its homeland, violating the basic norms of international humanitarian law, is thus trying to give a legal veil to its criminal actions.
It is obvious to every reasonable person that the trial started in Baku is a mockery of justice, justice and international law. Armenian prisoners of war and civilians are being prosecuted in flagrant violations of the international principles of human rights, including the lack of access to the case materials in an accessible language is doing everything possible to cover up its wrongdoings with a sham trial.
This demonstration is not a judicial process, but a despicable symbiosis of the Inquisition and fascist trials. There are many cases in the history of mankind when dictators tried libertarians, fascists tried dissidents, and the winners tried the losers. However, with the silent indifference of the international circles, the anti-Armenian and misanthropic Aliyev regime is trying to create a shocking new precedent, when the genocidaire judges the genocidal.
The Republican Party of Armenia declares that our compatriots who are hostages of the Aliyev regime in Baku prisons are innocent and righteous. By judging the military-political leadership of Artsakh, the dictatorial regime of Baku is trying to judge the entire Armenian people, to belittle their dignity, freedom, their history and faith.
We regret to note that the state efforts to protect the military and political leaders of Artsakh from Azerbaijani persecution are lacking, and the nationwide efforts are far from sufficient.
The judicial farce starting in Baku was also made possible due to the criminal inaction and capitulation policy of the RA authorities.
RPA GM strongly condemns the illegal persecution of Armenian prisoners of war and civilians by official Baku and calls on the international community and human rights organizations to raise their voice of protest in defense of Armenian prisoners in Baku prisons, demanding their unconditional release urges our compatriots to express support to our hostage-taking compatriots in every possible way.
At the same time, the RPA reaffirms that during its activities, including in the international arena, it will continue to prioritize this topic in order to achieve justice, and expresses its support to the families of all prisoners," the statement said.
