New Orleans Terror Victims Demand Pedestrian Protection

Victims of the terrorist attack in New Orleans have filed a lawsuit against city officials and two contractors, accusing them of failing to ensure the safety of pedestrians when a car threatened to crash into the crowd, the Associated Press reports.

On January 1, at approximately 03:15 New Orleans time (12:15 Moscow time), a truck plowed into a crowd on Bourbon Street in the historic center of the city, killing 15 people and injuring 35 others.

The suspect opened fire on the police, killing two. He was eliminated by return fire.

"Six victims and the father of a man killed in a New Year's Eve truck crash filed a lawsuit Thursday against the city of New Orleans and two contractors, alleging they failed to protect revelers," the agency said in a statement.
